    New Hope & River area

    Sundays • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

All Levels • Teenagers to Adults

    Instructed by John Murdoch

Join us and paint outside this summer.

Each week we visit a new location in or near New Hope, PA — rivers, covered bridges, open fields, and historic Bucks County countryside. We work directly in front of the subject, building small oil studies in three hours.

This class follows the same curriculum arc as the spring series: we start with value and composition, then move into color — posterization studies, reading color temperature in summer light, and building a palette that works outdoors.

    You'll learn:

    • How to see and simplify a landscape into clear color masses
    • How to build a plein air palette for summer light
    • How to work quickly and commit — no overworking
    • How to use outdoor painting to strengthen your studio work

Drop in for any single session or sign up for the full series at a discount. No prior experience required.

Locations are posted the day before each session or check Materials and Location Link

After summer, the Fall Atelier Program begins September 2026 in addition there is a Fall Landscape Segment coming soon.

This is an ongoing monthly class, so your child can jump in any month, and can keep learning through the year!
