We have shorter classes and longer drawing and painting programs that develop skills over years. We offer classes in how to draw in pencil, charcoal and colored pencil. There are also classes in acrylic painting, oil painting and watercolor painting. There are draw and paint portrait sessions, quick sketch nude model life drawing sessions and long pose figure drawing sessions for students and professional artists.

Live study from the nude model has been the cornerstone of classical study since antiquity. Learn to draw or paint from life models in a single sustained pose. Learn how to measure from the live model, then construct and draw the figure. Finally we teach how to accurately shade and model the human form.

Please note: there is one continuous pose the entire class with single source lighting showcasing the form of the model.

Artistic Anatomy of the Human Body June 17-July 29
Saturdays 10am-12:30pm, June 17, 24 and July 15, 22 and 29.
This is a general artistic human anatomy class. We move from a general idea of the body and its parts to a more specific understanding of the muscles and systems. The goal of the class is that you gain ability to draw a reasonable human figure from imagination or from the live model.
Learn the basics drawing of female anatomy and male anatomy.
Emphasis is on artistic anatomy and what artists need to succeed!

How to Draw the Face, June 14-July 26
Wednesdays 10am-12:30pm, June 14, 21, 28 and July 12, 19 and 26.
This is a general anatomy of the head class for artists. You will learn a combination of practical constructive drawing with bone and muscle landmarks.
Everyone wants to learn how to draw faces including eyes, ears, nose and mouth. We start with how to draw the head, then how to draw the face and end with specifics like how to draw an eye. We move from general to more specific understandings of the anatomy of the head>

We continue the skill building from the pencil drawing intensive program. It is required to do the pencil drawing intensive before doing the oil painting program.
The focus is on continual improvement in drawing and observation skill with the addition of oil painting, materials and how to handle them.
In the morning there is a studio segment which includes painting from cast, still life formats and master copies. As in the drawing Intensive some of the work can be completed at home. We teach wash drawing techniques, grisaille, and then basic color theory and oil paint application.We teach a few methodologies including sight size and comparative drawing.
In the Wednesday class there are life drawing/painting long poses in the afternoon. Friday mornings continue with more life model sessions. In the Saturday class there is a morning Studio Session with a once-a-month portrait drawing/ painting session.
Scheduled class content will be available online for students to review and available in case of absence. Enjoy a complimentary sample of our online content!

Class is for children aged 7-10 who aspire to become future artists, are looking to improve their drawing abilities, or simply want to discover a new and challenging activity.
Not just another class, we take the question "how to draw for kids?" seriously. We have a proven track record of teaching adults and children to draw.
Kids learn to draw using line, basic geometric shapes, shading and the essentials of color. Students work on a variety of images and subjects, stimulate their curiosity and encourage their creativity.
The format is fun and relaxed with a snack break.
