We have shorter classes and longer drawing and oil painting programs that develop skills over years. We offer classes in how to draw in pencil, charcoal and colored pencil. There are also classes in acrylic painting, oil painting and watercolor painting. There are draw and paint portrait sessions, quick sketch nude model life drawing sessions and long pose figure drawing sessions for students and professional artists.

Are you interested in improving your skill? Are you a high school student developing a portfolio or an adult who wants help making your artwork better?
Bucks County Classical Art Center is now offering “Art Class: Draw & Paint” on Thursday 10 am – noon or Thursday 4 pm– 6 pm.
If you are looking for drawing lessons or painting classes for teenagers or adults this may be for you.
Explore your creative side in a safe, supported learning environment. Bring your own ideas or have your instructor pick a project for you. Enjoy learning new things or swap ideas with classmates.
A quick talk on a specific subject matter pertaining to the needs of the class will start each class. One-on-one guidance is given to each student.
All mediums are welcome including oil painting, pastel, charcoal, pencil, watercolor, and acrylic.

Class is for children aged 7-10 who aspire to become future artists, are looking to improve their drawing abilities, or simply want to discover a new and challenging activity.
Not just another class, we take the question "how to draw for kids?" seriously. We have a proven track record of teaching adults and children to draw.
Kids learn to draw using line, basic geometric shapes, shading and the essentials of color. Students work on a variety of images and subjects, stimulate their curiosity and encourage their creativity.
The format is fun and relaxed with a snack break.

How to Draw the Face VIRTUAL

This is a general anatomy of the head class for artists.
Everyone wants to learn how to draw faces including eyes, ears, nose and mouth. We start with how to draw the head, then how to draw the face and end with specifics like how to draw an eye. We move from general to more specific understandings of the anatomy of the head.
The goal of the class is to draw a reasonable human head from imagination or from the live model. Emphasis is on artistic anatomy and what artists need to succeed!

This is a general artistic human anatomy class. We move from a general idea of the body and its parts to a more specific understanding of the muscles and systems. The goal of the class is that you gain ability to draw a reasonable human figure from imagination or from the live model.
Learn the basics drawing of female anatomy and male anatomy.
Emphasis is on artistic anatomy and what artists need to succeed!

Pencil Drawing Program Intensive: Wednesday and/or Saturday Sept 2020- May 2021
Semester runs from September to May
Due to Covid, Classes will be run via zoom from September 2020 until December 2020. We will reevaluate if we can open for in person classes in January 2021 sometime in the fall.

Once-monthly Portrait session 10am- 2pm
What is the course...
This is a comprehensive drawing program focusing on fundamentals of accurate drawing, material handling and observation. Exercises and concepts build from simple to multilayered and more complex. Learn how to draw. Draw in pencil or learn charcoal drawing.
This is a first year atelier program which includes drawing from flat copies, plaster cast and still lifes. A portion of the work can be completed at home. We teach a few methodologies including sight size and comparative drawing.
In the Wednesday class there are life drawing long poses in the afternoon. In the Saturday class there is a morning Studio Session with a once-a-month draw the portrait session.
Scheduled class content will be available online for students to review and available in case of absence.
Students sign up for Wednesday or Saturday Art Program or both if they wish to advance faster.

What is the course...
We continue the skills built in the pencil drawing intensive program. It is required to do the pencil drawing intensive before doing the oil painting program. The focus is on continual improvement in drawing and observation skill with the addition of oil painting, materials and how to handle them.
In the morning there is a studio segment which includes painting from cast, still life formats and master copies. As in the drawing Intensive some of the work can be completed at home. We teach wash drawing techniques, grisaille, and then basic color theory and oil paint application.
In the Wednesday class there are life drawing long poses in the afternoon. In the Saturday class there is a morning Studio Session with a once-a-month portrait session.
