Note: If you cannot find or are confused about the lead holding pencils please purchase regular pencils HB, 3H and 4B.

 Pencils:
1 each of  2B or HB
1 Each of 3B or 4B or 5B
1 Each of 4H, 5H or 6H
Students can also use lead holding pencils in addition or replacing wood pencils
  
Charcoal:
1 of Nitram brand Hard charcoal (blue box)

ERASER:
​Kneaded Eraser

Paper:
A sketch book or 18 x 24 white drawing pad of paper, 30- 100 sheets pads such as Strathmore 400 Series Recycled Paper Pads 
(In the beginning we do many drawings and you will need paper you are not afraid of using)

For finished work (don't buy right away), students will use:

3 sheets of Canson mi -teintes white 19x26" (charcoal drawers)
or 

Canson Bristol paper, 96lb, 18x24”, color white (pencil drawers)

These items we don't sell at school but are useful:

*Drawing board recommended, ideally at least 20x24” (available at Michaels)

*A portfolio large enough to handle drawing board and paper
*Tortillon or drawing stump and or Q-tips
*Sanding pad or 100 grit sandpaper
*Some kind of small bag or small toolbox/ fishing tackle box to carry supplies in
*Painters tape

Less important at the start but useful later:
 
Tracing paper 18x24”
Spray fixative
Small Level

Painting program intensive
​

​Palette:
Hand held palettes are recommended, especially for sight size. We recommend the New Wave Art Palette, “The Academian”. Website: http://www.newwaveart.com.


Paint:
 150ml of tintanium white

50 ml of burnt umber or raw umber or transparent oxide brown

50 ml Yellow:
Raw Sienna, or Yellow Ochre

50 ml Red:
Burnt Sienna, or Light Red, or Transparent red oxide

50 ml Black:
Ivory Black

Painting Surfaces:
To start: 30 sheets of 9x12" canvas paper and one pad of 12x16" or 16x20" canvas paper (10 sheets)


​Medium:
Linseed Oil

​Solvents:
Gambosol or Turpenoid or Mona Lisa odorless
 
Brushes:
Bristles: #2, #4, #6, #8, #10 in Rounds and Filberts
 
Paper towels
Palette knife
 
“Invisible glove” protective hand coating
 
Medium
Eyedropper
Cleanup jar for solvents (large spaghetti sauce jar recommended)
