Disegno and the Art of Picture Making -

Join artist Neilson Carlin as he walks through the design stages required for narrative figure painting. From thumbnail sketches to palette layout to finished paintings, Neilson will show examples of the design work he created for a series of eleven-foot, multi-figure paintings for the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lacrosse, WI.

Each participant will be given two prepared painting surfaces, oil colors, oil medium, solvent, and paper towels. The participant will be required to bring brushes, palette, palette knife, containers to hold oil and solvent.
